"Hope" is the thing with feathers

"Hope" is the thing with feathers
by Emily Dickinson

"Hope" is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—

And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—

I've heard it in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me.

  1. Lovely. I like the variety of materials and mediums you've chosen for the various aspects of this project. This is a really great way to convey this poem.

  2. I love this (and have enjoyed catching glimpses of your other projects around the school). Thank you for making my day more poetic.

  3. This is amazing. It makes the intimidating stairs happier and more inviting, since they are always a hassle to go up first thing in the morning.

  4. I'm impressed with your ingenuity and marketing; the colors and cranes embody, rather than detract from, the poem's delineation. Before I even knew that this was a public poetry project, this caught my attention as I walked up to the bio room.

  5. The little ones on the highest windows are really cute!
(If you don't know what I'm talking about, look up when you're on the first-second floor inbetween...)

  6. It must've taken you guys a while to make all the cranes! I liked this poem so much that I quoted it for a college waitlist. :)

  8. You persist on being adorable, tricky knaves! I love how it is done on old homework; I love the tiny birds flown away from the main exhibit.

  10. This is my favorite of all the displays, though I find them all enjoyable. I wondered who made the display and why! The recycled paper is a neat touch. Every day on my way to classes on the third or fourth floor I think about what a cool idea it is.
    Thanks for brightening the stairs!

  11. I grand huzzah to Fiona for her beastly paper crane-making skills!

  12. I definitely like the variety that you guys have in your project. The chalk drawing kept "Jabberwocky" stuck in my head all afternoon the first day that I saw it, and I was surprised when I saw the cranes on my way up to Physics. I like how all of these pieces of your project jump out at people. It's difficult to ignore them, which makes them effective.
